We are sorry that we have not posted in a while. Our TT has been in service for a module replacement under warranty, plus an investigative search for a reason that our water does not pump when using the tanks since being dewinterized by the dealership?! We look forward to sharing more of our novice adventures!

Blow me down
After all the planning and trial runs, the time for our big trip had finally arrived. We had planned to leave after Papa finished work for the week and drive as far as South Bend and then sleep in the Walmart parking lot. I could tell Daddy wasn't quite sure he was on board for this plan and another idea was needed. Papa figured it would be easier to get up super early and just forge ahead for eight hours then to convince Daddy that we would be fine in a parking lot along the interstate. Easier on Daddy but I don't like to be woken up before dawn😴. Snce daddy's hometown, Kokomo, is on the way to Michigan and a perfect distance away for a coffee and potty stop, Grandma and Grandpa Walden got up early to meet us at Starbucks to send us off on our adventure🏕. We filled up on coffee and donuts and then off we went. As the sun slowly rose, the day exposed itself wrapped in a thick blanket of fog. I checked on Kingsley and Spike to make sure they were ok and then I crawled up in Papas lap for a nice nap. After a few hours of traveling we stopped again for gas and a quick lunch. After scarfing down a couple of Arby's Beef and Chedders, it was time to load back up and hit the road. Climbing back onto my lap , I realized we were on the passenger side. It was Papas turn to rest. Now one condition to a one day drive was that Daddy was going to drive some. Now that doesn't sound like a big deal cause he zips around Indy in his sports car, BUT Daddy has never pulled the RV on a public road!😱 Daddy pulled the travel trailer back on the road and off we went. I must admit that my little rat feet were holding on a little tighter than normal. Soon I settled down and was able to drift off to sleep. All of a sudden I was awoken by a large cry of "JESUS" from Daddy. Looking out the truck window, I realized we were driving through a serious windstorm. 💨The truck was heaving back and forth with more chants of "Jesus help me" coming from the driver. In between his bouts of laughter, Papa tried to tell Daddy he should probably pull over and wait for the storm to pass. He said we were traveling parallel with Lake Michigan and quite a storm was coming on land. All of a sudden the rain started but it seemed like it was raining sideways. I didn't quite understand cause I thought rain came down but Papa said it was because of all the wind.🌬 Finally Daddy decided to follow Papas advice and pull over at the next rest stop. We pulled over and Daddy pried his white knuckles off the steering wheel. Papa tried to encourage him by reminding him how well he had done driving in bad conditions but Daddy didn't seem to care. He just wanted to get out of the truck. After a short stay and a quick check to make sure the RV was alright, the storm passed and back on the road with Papa behind the wheel and me on his lap. I'm a loyal co-pilot ! After another few hours, a couple more potty breaks, and map checks, we arrived at Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore! Kingsley was so excited cause he said he had never seen a sleeping bear before, silly Shelty !
Finally there it was, Platte River Camp Ground!
We quickly checked in and found our camp site in the middle of the campground. It was a nice spacious spot with lots of privacy and close to the bathrooms for Papa. By the time we got all set up, it became apparent that exhaustion from the drive up was kicking in. We would rest tonight and explore tomorrow!
The next morning my brothers and I bounded out of bed with visions of sleeping bears and beaches dancing in our heads. We had a quick breakfast and took off to explore. Papa said they had a section of the beach that allowed pets. I'm not sure what that had to do with us but it sounded fun. When we got there all you could see was a tall wall of sand with a opening at a low point. Kingsley led the way, as he always thinks he must protect us where ever we go. As we went through the wall , I saw the most amazing site of blue and green water stretching out as far as my eyes could see . Spike immediately peeked up when the salt water filled wind hit his nose. All thre of us pulled at our harnesses to run towards this beautiful site, when we learned two things.
1- it's hard to run when your sinking in sand
2- sand is hot🔥
Daddy took us back to the boardwalk so we could walk without sinking and we explored the beautiful landscape. We returned home after wearing Spike and Kingsley out to have a delicious bowl of chili that had been slow cooking back at the campground while we were hiking. A big campfire , some marshmallows and it's time to turn in. Tomorrow is going to be a busy day!
So I, as the chosen one, got to get up after breakfast and go with our Daddies exploring the Dunes and lakeshore. My brothers had to stay at home cause the trip was wearing Spike out and Kingsley is always designated to keep an eye on things. Papa says that's what Sheltys do and boy is he good at his job. Anyway, we head out and drove a beautiful scenic road with all the windows down. It was so cool cause the trees and landscape changed from big trees to sand dunes to a deep forest with lots of ferns. We posed at a covered bridge , I'm the cute one, and went to a coast guard museum. The best part was a huge lighthouse with crashing waves coming over the storm wall.
We returned to the RV and took a much needed nap once Kingsley and Spike stopped harassing me about the day. Papa fed us dinner and cleaned up to go out for the evening. That was alright with me cause my little paws were still tired from our busy day. Daddies took off to drive to a restaurant that was recommended to us by friends, Funistrada!
Papa said it was a very nice Italian restaurant about 30 minutes away in a small town along a lake. It must have been good cause they came home with big smiles on there faces. Daddy said Papa had a steak that was cooked in a balsamic reduction. When I asked about it he just smiled and said something about meat candy. Now I have never had any but I can't think of anything better than meat and candy😛. A walk around the campground , a little campfire and bed.
We spent the next two days running up and down the lakeshore. We ate at the Cherry Hut and brought the most amazing cherry pie home. When the time came to leave to return home, we sadly packed up and hit the road. The one thing that made it better was Papa said not to worry, we will be back next year. Bark at ya later🐾

Road Closed!
For our next adventure , Papas decided we were going to stay close to home for a quick weekend getaway. They chose McCormicks Creek State Park for it beautiful hiking trails and it's close proximity to Indy. The catch this time was we would have to travel and set up at night. Now this concerned me because both of them are getting old and don't see very well at night! This was also going to be a test in getting out of the house on schedule . We had 3 hours before the park closes and we little time for distractions. Well knowing my Daddies, this is going to be interesting. When they arrive home, we spring into action to finish packing and load everything for our weekend trip. We hit the road only about 40 minutes late ,so not too bad. A quick drive out I-70 and it looks like this is going to be an easy night. We get off the interstate and head south to the gates for the State Park. McCormick's Creek State Park is the oldest state park in the U.S. state of Indiana, dedicated on July 4, 1916, as part of the state's centennial celebration. It is located 14 miles west of Bloomington in Owen County. We drive and drive for what seems like forever down the dark curvy roads and I think it must be getting close to our deadline. We pull through the main gates at 10:50.....whew....made it.
We slowly navigate the curvy roads through the dark park. So dark you can't even see your paw In front of your face. Now there are no street lights to speak of and the signs are wood with the words burnt into them. Not ideal to be seen in the dark. Papa came up to fork in the road and had to get out to read the sign. Little good that did since the way to the campground was blocked off by a large barricade. Papa jumped back in the truck, frustrated and unsure what to do. We had checked in at the front gate so surely they hadn't forgot about us. My brothers and I could feel the tension rising , here we go again. Papa jumped back out of the truck and much to Daddies dismay, he moved the barricade 😱. Back into the truck and off we go down the closed road. It's a lovely road with a large bridge crossing a river and large gorge. I can't imagine why they didn't want us to go this way. A little while later, we came upon another roadblock that Papa went through ,as we made our way onto another road and up to the campground attendant. They hadn't closed without us😁
As normal, Spike announced our arrival to our fellow campers with his normal squeals and cries. Papa quickly quiets him and reminds us that it is quiet time and what that means. I can't figure how in the world we are going to park in the dark while everyone else is sleeping, cause as we all know our Daddies yell a lot during the set up process. Well for the first time they actually listened to each other and Daddy gave instructions in a calm, hushed voice. Boy! Humans get a lot more done when they actually take the time to listen to each other and presto we were set up for the weekend. A light snack and off to bed 😴It's been a busy day.
The next morning Daddy got up and ran into town to pick up a few things for breakfast. When he returned, he informed Papa that he about killed us last night. It seems the roadblock was not down because it was so late, NO, it seems the roadblock was down because the bridge over a large ravine was deemed unsafe 😱. They also noticed for the first time that they had squeezed the RV in between two trees. I know those trees weren't that close last night cause there is no way Papa could have navigated them in the dark! Maybe we should travel more at night😂 Once Daddy teased Papa about our excapades, we settled down for a yummy breakfast of 🥓 and 🍳. About the time we cleaned everything up, the skies opened up and the rain started pouring down. Nap time!!!! All of a sudden we heard a large noise followed by a rush of rain water. The awning had released on one side and water poured everywhere. It seems this is what the awning is designed to do but we were not prepared for the surprising rush of water. After all this excitement, Papa stayed alert and kept an eye on the weather and awning. It rained and rained and rained for what seemed like hours. Finally the skies cleared up and we were free to explore the park.
McCormicks Creek State Park is a great example of the beauty of south central Indiana. Lots of huge trees grace the rolling hills, which my brothers and I smelled and explored completely . Bubbling brooks and splashing waterfalls all add to the ambiance of this Hoosier treasure.
After exploring the park we headed back to the campground for dinner. Our friends, Ann and Robert, we're going to drive down for dinner, but the rain dampened their plans so we would have to dine alone. The menu for the evening was already planned so I guess more for me!😁 Papa started a roaring fire while Daddy prepped a couple of savory steaks to throw in our iron skillet. There is nothing better than the smell of meat sizzling on an open fire! After eating we decided to retire for the night. Now Spike has a very small bladder and has to go outside quite often, and Daddy asked Papa to take us all outside. He always yells"turn on some light" when we go out at night even though we have a porch light . The difference this time was he decided to take matter into his own hands. He walked over to the door and turned on the scare light. This light is a bright strip that runs the full length of our RV. Now I kid you not, every bug in central Indiana flew directly at the light and swarmed right at Daddy. He screamed and ran and locked himself in the bathroom. What he forgot is that the bathrooom door doesn't do all the way to the floor or ceiling and would offer him no protection. I swear Papa was rolling on the ground laughing as Daddy panicked and ran. He will never make that mistake again.
The next morning Papa, Kingsley and I got up early to prepare for the day. Because we were so close to home, we made plans to entertain friends, Kim and Loren. They came over for lunch and Kim brought all kinds of delicious food. It was nice having company to spend the afternoon with. I love my Daddies but it's exciting to get to listen to new stories. After a few hours, they headed home and we started packing up to head home the next morning. All and all , I would say this trip was a success. We drove and parked at night and found a great State Park close to home. Next up Michigan! Bark at ya later!🐾

buckle up boys! It's gonna be a bumpy ride.
Papa had been looking forward to this trip forever. Our first time taking the RV out of state and our first real vacation in years. As the time to go approached ,it became clear that Daddy was paralyzed and unable to mentally or physically prepare for our trip. At the last minute, Daddy had a melt down, something about the house not being clean. Now I'm not sure what that was all about cause Katie Cat never seems to mind and nobody else was going to be home. Anyway this caused a great amount of stress in the house and Papa said we were leaving in the morning whether Daddy was ready or not. Morning came, Daddy not ready , Papa mad! Back to the drawing board. Papa, Kingsley and I would leave today and Daddy and Spike would drive over the next afternoon. We loaded up the truck and off we went😳
Now I should probably let you know that this was only the fourth time Papa had pulled the RV and the first time by himself. Lone Pointe Campground is located on Lake Shelbyville in central Illinois about 5 hours from Indy. Driving down I-70 in my favorite spot(Papas lap), I notice that Kingsley doesn't look so good. I had never seen a green Shelty until then. All of a sudden, Kingsley filled Papas cup holder and cell phone with his breakfast. I must say his aim was excellent . Kingsley proceeded to puke and slobber for 4 hours straight! I didn't know a Shelty had that much fluid in his fuzzy body. After a couple of stops to clean up Kingsley, potty and gas up, we arrived in Effingham Illinois for the last stretch of our journey. We all thought we were close to Lake Shelbyville ,so Papa went to call Daddy and tell him we were headed out of town. Hmmm no cell service, oh well I think as we head out into a endless maze of cornfields. We drive and drive for about an hour and I can see Papa is getting getting a glazed look in his eyes. Finally we get to Shelbyville Illinois and the bottom edge of Lake Shelbyvillle,so Papa went to call Daddy and tell him we were headed to the campground. Hmmmm no cell service, oh well I think as we head back out into a endless maze of cornfields. Now Papa seem a little more worried about the cell service because he starts kinda muttering to himself. Something about the truck being a traveling 4G and how can we not have cell service. As we wind and wind from county road to county road and thru endless flat cornfields, the truck gas light and chime comes on. At this point, Papa has been praying and dancing in his seat which tell me two things...
1-he is worried
2- he needs to pee
First things first, a quick stop in a corn field. As we take off, Papa is looking for county road 1800 and praying we make it to the campground Remember puking Kingsley, no gas, endless cornfields and no cell service. As we pass county road 1795, we go over the only hill within 100 miles , a railroad track, we come down the other side on a one lane gravel road. Nooooooo! Screamed Daddy.
And now nothing but cornfields. See the only trees anywhere are along Lake Shelbyville, and the constant corn maze keeps taking you up and over then up and over. Papa realized this couldn't be right so turning around or running out of gas on a dirt road in a corn maze with no phone and a sick dog were his 2 options. In his state of panic and seeing what looked like the only road in site, Papa quickly turned onto ,not a road, but a trail for tractors between two corn fields. And to make matters worse...MUD! Luckily Papa realized this before the trailer went off the road. He shut off the truck (to save gas he later said) and said a long prayer. I knew this was serious because I had to sit in the seat and not in my normal lap spot. Papa started the car , put it in 4 wheel drive and hit reverse. Mud flew everywhere and we flew backwards but Papa stopped before the trailor went off the other side of the road. He turned us around and back over the tracks and you know what? This side of that sign said county road 1800! We quickly turned and a couple turns more and there we were...Lone Pointe Campground. We pulled up to the attendant, quite a sight....an RV covered in mud, a trucks low fuel alert chiming and a vomiting dog. I bounded up on Papas lap and gave the attendant my best Louie look and we drove off through the campground . I think we made quite the impression as we went to the very last spot on the point. Give Papa his props, we were very private with only one other camper within sight!
Papa was able to get us set up and went off to get gas. Lake Shelbyville is a very remote lake with six very small towns located around its banks. Papa drove around even going to the dam to try and find phone service, no luck. Back at the campground, Kingsley stomach had calmed down so we ate a late dinner and settled down for bed. We knew Daddy would be worried but our options were limited. Sleep now and deal with the phone tomorrow.
We awoke to a beautiful view of the lake and a loud knock at the door. Kingsley jumped to attention and took his guard position. Papa opened the door to Ranger Rick checking on us. Daddy was so worried he must have callled Smoky the Bear first thing that morning. After explaining about the phone, the nice Ranger said he would assure Daddy we were fine. After all the excitement, we had a light snack of bagels and cream cheese....yummm. We had a few hours to explore the lake and campground before Spike and Daddy joined us.
We had an amazing private beach down a steep hill behind our campsite that we hiked to. Spike and Kingsley had to take it slow down the slippery slope but I had a special spot in Papas beach bag so I didn't have to worry! We hiked along the lake shore and ran through the waves crashing on the beach. Daddy discovered old foundations from a town that was flooded to make the resevor decades ago . I don't think I've seen my Daddies this relaxed in years!
Even Papa got in on our silliness and was acting like he was being attacked by a snake. If you knew him you would know that this is one of his great fears!
Daddies even rented a boat for a day and took it all around checking out the surrounding areas. I was impressed because Daddy doesn't swim very well and I never thought I would see him near the water.
Papa, on the other hand, grew up water skiing and is quite comfortable in the water even though he doesn't like fish around his feet. I don't blame him.
After a long day boating, they came home and we feasted on mushroom flatbreads and steaks cooked perfectly on an open Fire!
"Applewood-smoked bacon, cremini mushrooms, asparagus, and Asiago cheese all come together on a thin, crunchy flatbread to create a hearty and delicious main. Preparation may take some time, but the finished product is well worth every second. Serve alongside a fresh green salad for nice balance."
Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 6 crimini mushrooms, sliced
- 3 cloves garlic, chopped
- 1 pinch salt and ground black pepper, or to taste
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 8 spears fresh asparagus, trimmed and cut into 2-inch pieces
- 1/2 pound applewood-smoked bacon, cut into 2-inch pieces
- 1 (12 inch) prepared flatbread pizza crust
- 3/4 cup prepared marinara sauce
- 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup shredded Asiago cheese
Directions
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).
- Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil.
- Heat 1 tablespoon olive oil in a skillet over medium heat, and stir in mushrooms and garlic; sprinkle with salt and black pepper. Cook and stir until the mushrooms have given off their juice and the juice has evaporated, about 10 minutes. Remove from heat and set mushroom mixture aside.
- Heat 1 more tablespoon olive oil in a separate large skillet over medium-high heat until very hot, and place asparagus into the skillet. Cook, stirring occasionally, until asparagus pieces are very well browned (almost but not quite burned in spots), about 8 minutes. Remove asparagus from skillet and set aside.
- Reduce heat to medium, and cook bacon in the same skillet until crisp, about 10 minutes; stir often. Drain excess grease as the bacon cooks, for crisper pieces.
- Remove bacon pieces and place on a paper towel-lined plate; blot with paper towels to reduce grease.
- Place the flatbread crust onto the prepared baking sheet, and spread marinara sauce over the crust.
- Spread the mushrooms and garlic evenly over the pizza.
- Spread asparagus over the pizza.
- Arrange bacon pieces on the pizza.
- Sprinkle mozzarella cheese all over the pizza, followed by Asiago cheese.
- Bake in the preheated oven until the cheeses are melted and bubbling, 12 to 15 minutes.
After 4 glorious, funfilled days it was time to return to Indy, but Papa had a better idea . Since we don't have to be back at work for a couple more days , Kingsley and I are going to stay one more day with Papa. We will miss Daddy and Spike cause they must return, but we can explore one more day. Hurray!!! We sent they guys off and found some great caves along the beach. Papa, Kingsley and I sat by the shore while the sun started to set . All of of sudden , we heard a large grunt coming from the forest. It was a large buck deer bringing the herd down for water. Papa made us go back up to the RV because Kingsley loves to chase things and we were being bad and off leash😱.
The next morning we got up and loaded up for the 5 hour trip home. We made it all the way back to Greencastle when Kingsley started circling in his seat. Now this is the way he usually acts at dinner time but we had had a delicious breakfast before we left, so I wasn't sure what was going on. Papa seemed concerned when big fluffy sat at attention facing the door. All of a sudden the most rank smell came out of Kingsley and filled the truck. Papa kept trying to calm Kingsley and pull over to let him out. Oops ! Too late. Kingsley proceeded to poop all over the truck and himself. Another stop to bathe the Shelty . Once he was all cleaned up, we loaded back up and headed home. Once we arrived , Daddy cleaned up Kingsley and Papa cleaned the truck. I will say that even with ALL that happening, we loved Lake Shelbyville so much, we're going back with friends this July!
That's all for now. Bark at you

Starve Hollow ......
After spending a few nights sleeping in the driveway checking everything out and how things worked, Daddy said we were ready to take the new Rockwood Mini lite on the road. We decided to stay close to home for a first time out and went to Starve Hollow in southern Indiana.
Starve Hollow is a small DNR facility with a campground along the lake in the woods around Brownstown Indiana. We picked a great little spot on the lake and then didn't pay attention to the fact that we couldn't open our awning all the way because of the trees. Papa was so flustered by getting it level and parking it the first time that he was scared to try it even move it. There was a lot of screaming and yelling while they tried to get backed in and set up. Thank God the nice people next to us took pity on our daddies and helped set everything up. People sure are nice at campgrounds.
Thw next morning, we let Daddy sleep and we got up to watch the sun rise over the lake. It was the first time Spike,Kingsley , and I had ever got to see it. Sure was beautiful!!!! Papa started a fire and even though I'm not great at telling time, I'm sure it took an hour or more😱
Then all of a sudden the most amazing smell started floating through the campground. BACON!!! Dozens of campfires, dozens of iron skillets sizzling! We found dog heaven 🥓🥓🥓
Of course we had to go in and wake Daddy up so he wouldn't miss all the excitement. We feasted on bacon and eggs around a roaring campfire beside the lake and then took a nice long nap inside cause someone didn't pay attention to the weather forecast . They also didn't pay attention to all the necessities that one need to spend 3 days in a RV. Like FOOD!
Not to fear a 10 minute drive gets you to a wonderful little place called General Dollar. I wonder why my Daddies never shop there when we're at home? It seemed to me that you could buy everything from food to antifreeze. Oh yeah, the pet food isle was a smorgasbord of puppy crack!!!!
We returned to the campground with our newly purchased treasures to enjoy our snacks and movie night . We had to watch one of Papas favorite movies "The Long, Long Trailer" with Lucille Ball and Ricky Ricardo. We laughed and laughed but I hope we never experience any of those problems when we're traveling. And boy was it cold!!!!!
After a couple of days we returned home but then returned again in a couple of weeks. I guess my Dads weren't ready to try a real road trip so we returned to Starve Hollow. This time we had picked out our spot ahead of time so Papa felt more confident. Too bad it didn't make the set up much smoother. Papa still doesn't have the hang of turn left to go right and Daddy isn't the best at directions. It doesn't help that Spike can't control his excitement when we arrive. Set up took even longer this time but part of the reason was the brand new fence that Daddy got for us so we aren't tied up all the time.
The new fence made a great patio area for us and Daddy was even able to take a nap without having to worry about Spike wondering off. He's a little stubborn when he sets his mind to something. Papa says we must be understanding cause he is getting old. I think Spike wants Daddy to think that so he can do whatever he wants.
Daddy's nap was cut short when we had visitors that night. A nice couple came over and wanted to see our RV. They were funny and a little bit drunk. I know that work cause I think I've seen Papa that way once or twice. Papa let them look around and visit for a while , talking about campgrounds and travel trailers. This was a new experience for us but we soon realized this was normal cause it happens everywhere we go. This was the first time Daddies used the shower and quickly learned how fast the RV runs out of water. Another trip to General Dollar for a water hose. A quick hookup with our new hose and we were all set.
So that's the story of Starve Hollow. I don't think we will be going there this year but we would recommend it if you like to fish, canoe or just relax on a quiet lake . Thanks for visiting and I'll bark at you later!

Let's just look
For as long as I can remember our Daddies have talked about retiring in the road. We would hear stories about all the places we would go and all the fun we would have and all the things we would get to see.🏕🏔🏝 Then April 2016, Daddy had a day off and they went to Camping World in Richmond...."just to look" Well my brothers and I know what that usually means, and Papa just bought a new truck but we didn't want to get our hopes up.
Imagine our surprise when they pulled up with this baby. A new 23' Rockwood Mini Lite! We couldn't believe it. Spike got so excited that I think he tinkled a little but no one else noticed.😂 Papa took us out to show us around. It was sooooo pretty and had that new car smell. Papa showed us how the slide out kitchen worked and all the new appliances.
Daddy showed us how the table folded down to make a bed which was to be ours😂😂.I really don't know if he truly believed we would fall for that or not. I was already eyeing the fold down queen bed
that I was planning on sleeping in
Spike and I jumped up and tried it out and I must admit it was rather comfy😴 There was lots of storage and we even get a drawer for our treats and toys!
We learned all about Rockwood Travel Trailers and how they are made in Indiana. The salesperson, Linda, said Rockwood is one of the best made trailers around. She also said that most people trade up for a larger unit within four years. Papa laughed and said no way... this one has to make it until retirement. Well, we will see about that😁
Daddy showed us around the outside which even has an outside shower for dirty paws🐾
Papa took the owners manual to read but I think his eyes glazed over after about 15 minutes. We are so excited to learn all about our new RV and take it on the road! Daddies said in about two weeks and after a couple of nights sleeping in the driveway and we can plan our first trip.
Stayed tuned for our first adventure.

Lewis Lacarri Lineberry
Good day all, my name is Lewis but you can call me Louie . As you can see I am a 6 year old Maltise and Afenpinscher mix. I am taking over the blog as I think I will tell a more balanced account of our adventures.
First let's get a few things straight. To keep everything straight, Daddy K will be known as Daddy while Daddy A will be called Papa. I will spend our time telling humorous stories about our road trips, restaurant reviews, yummy recipes, and tattling on my brothers. I might even share a few of my favorite potty spots for those of you who travel with your own furry family members. I am going to spend the last few days of winter catching you all up on what you missed over the last year.
That's all for now dear friends. I'll bark at you later
